By journeying through a train car simulation, strolling along railroad tracks and exploring the past in replicas of Best Friend train cars, visitors of the Region 3 Discovery Center will experience the history of the people, land and culture of this "Rivers, Rails and Crossroads" region consisting of Aiken, Bamberg, Barnwell and Orangeburg counties. The Center contains an interactive interpretive center, gift and coffee shop and full visitor services area.

Heritage Corridor Region 3 Discovery Center

The Union army under the command of Gen. William T. Sherman crossed the Savannah River in early February 1865. His army was to cut a 30-mile swath of destruction through the heart of this region that locals still talk about today. Visit the Region 3
